Swinging in the shade

Hang Sheers & Curtains
Crave a cozy feel while seeking outdoor vibes? Consider hanging sheers & curtains outdoors to add privacy, to create an intimate sanctuary or to separate spaces. Add sheers or curtains to patios, gazebos, and arbors. Choose fabrics that are intended for outdoors (and repel water, stains, etc.) or are washable. Add tie backs or weight the bottom for windier days.
Create Zones
If you’re lucky enough to have a spacious outdoor patio, contemplate creating zones for different activities. Take on the saying “divide and conquer” while separating sections for eating, entertainment, and relaxing. You can create zones with gazebos or arranging various seating areas (dining to outdoor living areas) and include an outdoor rug to complete the look.
Scaling is Key
When decorating your outdoor space it can be challenging to choose the right furniture size for your space. Modern furniture is often low set, while traditional is set higher. Add pops of color and nature with items such as plants and pillows. Keep in mind when choosing a size for your outdoor furniture that it is better to have a few large items, as opposed to several small items, which make the space feel cluttered.
Lighting
It’s Saturday evening and you’re hosting a barbeque for family and friends. What better way to create a homey, cozy ambiance than with fun patio mood lighting. There are several different light fixtures - from stylish string lights to up facing lights that illuminate plants, trees, walls & fabrics - that you can use for your outdoor setting while being affordable at the same time! Look for solar options that don’t require electricity or cords.
